LUMBA A BAYABAO

One of the genealogical division of Ranao is Bayabao principality, composed of three districts, Poona Bayabao, Mala a Bayabao and Lumba a Bayabao. Many maranaos believed that Bumbaran the destroyed kingdom of the Darangen era located in this place,

The district of Lumba a Bayabao comprises with the Municipality of Maguing, Lumba a Bayabao, Bumbaran and Wao, with four royal houses from the 15 original royal houses of Ranao, Namely: Minitupad, Maribo, Borokot and Bacolod. Four set from the 28 guardians of "Taritib" system of Ranao (dowapolo ago walo ambabaya ko taritib sa Ranao)

Accordingly, Lumba a Bayabao and Poona Bayabao were part and parcel of Maganding(Masiu) not Dagudob(Bayabao) but when the datus there (were close kins to Sarikala Balindong bzar of Masiu) gained prominence, they bid to form their soko (District) under Bayabao Phangampong. It happened that paramata Ambobai(Ambo) sister of Angkaya of Masiu, had a two(2) son from Dimalawang, Okoda and Ibango, and other two(2) son from Amimanabo of Borokot, Apha and Digowa. The four sons of Ambo were the patriarchs of the Minitupad, Maribo, Borokot and Bacolod Sultanates. Ambobai(Ambo) was the sister of Angkaya of MAsiu, both children of Amaloya Thopaan from Putri Kaizadan a grand daughter of Sharief Kabunsoan the youngest son of Ali and Putri Jusol Asiken of Johor. Ali was a son of Zainol Abiden who descended from Ali bin Abu Thalib (RA)

LUMBA A BAYABAO ROYAL GENEALOGY (SALSILA)

Dimalawang was a son of Madayao son of Maniri of Mala a Bayabao from the daughter of Engki of Minitupad who is a son of Maupaat Hidayat and Paramata Layagen daughter of Sharief Kabunsoan from Mazhawang. Dimalawang married to Ambo sister of Angkaya of Masiu both direct descendants from Sharief Aloyodan eldest son of Kabunsoan from Mazhawang of Malabang. Ambo and Dimalawang bore Okoda of Minitupad and Ibango of Maribo. When Dimalawang died, Ambo remarried to Amimanabo nephew of Dimalawang her deceased husband, Ambo and Amimanabo bore Apha of Borokot and Digowa of Bacolod in lumba a Bayabao.

Digowa of Bacolod was married to Danambai(Danan) younger sister of Balindong bsar of Masiu, both children of Datu Onggor from Sittie Ader sister of Dianaton of Butig. Onggor son of Angkaya the brother of Abobai(Ambo) both children of Amaloya thopaan of Poona Masiu, one can see how the royal genealogy evolved and revolved around Ranao .

PARAMOUNT RULER OF RANAO

One of the paramount rulers of Ranao was Balindong Bzar of Masiu, he was in the power right after the death of his uncle in-law Sultan Kudarat of Maguindanao on 1671. The name Balindong is a royal title (Grar) similar with the royal titles Maupaat, Maruhom and Sharief. He was named as Balindong Bzar of Masiu, his native place. Kuya Edris Tamano named him SARIKRAN, my parents genealogy named him SARIKOLA, Maguindanao tarsila recognized him as Sultan Sarikala a Balindong Bzar of Ranao. The word Bzar is a malay term which locally means “masla” BIG, there were many Balindongs like Balindong Zaman, Balindong Salam, Balindong Bandara, Balindong Kecil, now Balindong in Ganassi famous in Malabang , Picong and Pualas,

He was born at the town of Taraka lanao del sur on the middle part of 16 century to Datu Onggor of Masiu and potre Ader of Butig and Maguindanao, Balindong Bezar was a young man awed by the prowess of his uncle-in-law. Ba*lindong had married Bae Pindaw (Pindawa-dawa Oray is the longer name), daughter of Bae Gayang Mupat, sister of Sultan Kudarat and wife of Amatonding a Noni. Since Balindong Bzar is the son of Paramata Adir, cousin of Amatonding, that makes Ba*lindong and Bae Pindaw second cousins. As soon as Kudarat has reestablished himself back to power, the young Balindong, getting his spur, lay stake on his claim on a vast tract of land that included a sweep of the towns around Lanao and down along the shorelines of Panguil Bay.

Balindong Bzar of Masiu was the first Maranao chieftain enthroned as sultan, with specific title as Sultan Diagaborolah sa ranao, who was charged to enforce the teaching of Islam and the law and order in Lanao. On the same year Sultan Diagaborolah consulted the seven wise men maranaus of his time on how to govern Lanao. They were Dianaton Naim of Butig, Datu Burua of Pagayawan, Datu Ottowa of Ditsaan, Datu Acari of Ramain, Embaor of Bansayan, Engki-Okoda of Minitupad Alanak of Baloi the eight wise man including Balindong agreed to create the four confederation of Lanao (Pat a Pangampong a Ranao ) composed of state of Masiu, Unayan, Bayabao and Baloi, and on the second level, the 15 (Panoroganan) royal houses and the 28 legislative body (Pyakambaya ko Taritib). This socio-political system is based on the Taritib, laws, Ijma, customary laws, and adapt, practices of the Maranaos, a Pangampong state is a further divided, into smaller socio-political units. With in the four state is a total of 43 Ingud communities classified into 15 supported or Panoroganans, Royal houses and 28 supporting Ingud or legislative houses called Piyacambaya ko Taritib (decider of Laws)

Balindong Bzar found the Sultanate of Masiu, of the east and west of lakeLanao, with two royal houses, Datu a Cabugatan and the Sultan of Masiu, these royal houses have the exclusive right to assume. Most Maranao traced his lineage from Balindong Bzar, he was considered as father of all scions, Nobles of Ranao “Amao manga pipiya a tao sa Ranao” Balindong married Pindawadawa Oray one of the five Nonies and begot the “Seven Maruhoms” (princes) and the “Four Paramatas” (princesses). The princes were Salik, Adil, Karamat, Hidiyat, Datu a Wata (of Pualas), Dialalodin, and Rakmatolah, all royally addressed “Maruhom” before their names. The princesses, each addressed as “paramata,” were Banon, Nangko, Impa, and Saimbo

Balindong Bzar died on the first quarter of 17 century and buried in Selangan Island Located in Wato Balindong, The Municipality of Wato was rename Balindong in honor of the great ruler of Pangampong fame who ruled entire Ranao on 16-17 century.

BINIDAYAN MINOMBAO
Binidayan was one of the oldest existing towns in phangampong a Unayan during the ancient time with integral territory where therein the sovereign power and authority was exercised in it by the legitimate ruler. Formerly known as Bubonga Unayan located at the upland area of Unayan principality, its name was changed as Binidayan after the creation of the 15 original royal confederation sultanates of Ranao,

The word Binidayan was derived from the Mranaw root word "BIDAY" adverb "BINIDAY" which locally means "TO SHOW", showing something by means of exhibition of to an interested audience. The word refers to our "Bangsa" nation "BINIDAYAN KO BANGSA O PHANGAMPONG" a place where the nation of Ranao was frequently showed.

Panditas, most learned men of Binidayan narrated that lineage, genealogy of Binidayan was mixture of Masiu, Unayan and Bayabao genealogies, it was proven in many Salsilas that Potri Dayansalong of Masiu was married to Datu Ameladin a makapundag of Unayan and begot Buadi a woman chieftain of Binidayan, she was married to Maupaat Barao of Butig and bore Ampaso, Sayawa and Pundag. Sayawa was married to Adampok princess of Buadi Puso Buntong in Bayabao principality, their descendants could only ascend to the title and throne as Sultan of Binidayan. For this ancestry is the foundation and reason for the nine Datus who created the system "Taritib" of Ranao to rename the place as "BINIDAYAN MINOMBAO A KIABIDAYAN KO BANGSA". The celebration of the 15 royal sultanates of Ranao was hold in the area, due to the request of Buadi Local chieftain of Binidayan and one of the most riches women during that time, she is the first degree aunt of Balindong Bsar of Masiu,

According to the traditional order of Binidayan made by Imam Kadi and the Binidayan Datus, its territory divides into five sub principalities (Lima ka agama) every principality hold the specified title (Grar) provided by the Datus and Imam Kadi. Namely; Sultan a Gaus of Timbangan, Sultan a Diamla of Kialilidan, Sultan a Pitiilan of Unayan and Sultan Sarip of Lumbac, equal power under the umbrella of Sultan of Binidayan which is belong to the 28 original council of the system of Ranao (dowapolo ago walo a Mbabaya ko taritib sa Ranao)

Binidayan was one of the early created Municipality of Ranao, with a total population of 19,008 and land area of (in has) 18,958.00 major economic activity agriculture, belong to the second congressional districts of Lanao del sur, composed of 26 Barangays, Balut Island is belong to this municipality. Sultan Raraco Pundag first appointed mayor two time appointed, followed by Sultan Abdulmadid P. Maruhom also by appointment, followed by Hadji Omar A. Olama appointed and elected. Sultan Muliloda Macarangkat Dimaporo elected mayor until Edsa revolution on 1986. He was changed by an appointed mayor, Ismael Malangas, for a short period Hadji Zainoden Domaot was appointed mayor and Magidala Macarangkat Datumulok also appointed mayor of President Aquino. Sultan Muliloda M. Dimaporo again elected mayor and finally graduated mayor of Binidayan, his son Punudaranao "Panny" Benito Datumulok two time elected mayor of two consecutives term, Aman Misbac Ampuan Datumulok elected mayor and also graduated mayor on June 20, 2010, Abdullah (Colao) A. Datumulok was proclaimed Mayor on May, 11, 2010

BINIDAYAN ROYAL GENEALOGY

The people of Binidayan believe in oral myths and histories relating to their ancestral origins. Thus the people of Binidayan claimed descent from Sharif Kabunsoan a Muslim missionary who came to Mindanao to spread the word of Allah, one of his son is Sharif Aloyodan who was married to potri Nandaopan daughter of Sharif Alioden of Sulo and bore Potri Kaizadan, Pinorot and Pazaolan,

Kaizadan was married to Amaloya thopaan of Masiu, begot four siblings, one of whom was Potri Daisalong or Dayansalong in modern name, she was married to Ameladin of Unayan begot five daughters, one of whom is Buadi, a woman local chieftain of Binidayan,

Kabunsoan had a son Macaalang from his wife Angintabo an iranun princess of Malabang, Macaalang later descendants was Datu Diamsangkay adel of Maguindanao, who had a daughter Omon bae a labi of Simoay. Omon was married to Amborong of Butig a suspected son of Dimasangkay adel, the couple has a three children, Amatonding a noni, Nangko and Gayo.

Gayo was married to Adapun Pazaolan begot some children one of whom was Maupaat Barao of Butig later married to Buadi a lady chieftain of Binidayan and bore Ampaso, Sayawa and Pundag, these are called three siblings of Binidayan Lanao del sur (Mitlo a Maruhom sa Binidayan Minombao)

Sayawa was married to Adampok Liamin sa Buntong, daughter of Mala a Bae sa Buntong and Zahidozaman of Taraka. Mala a Bae is daughter of Maruhom Rahmatullah son of Balindong of Masiu. While zahidozaman was a son of Apha of Borokot fron Danam of Bacolod in lumba a Bayabao sister of Balindong of Masiu, Sayawa and Adampok of Buntong bore Amana, Candia, Badaolan and Lami. Candia married to lokes a Bae of Lumbatan daughter of Alnao Anbolotho and bore the father of Imam Kadi of Binidayan, while Amana later descendant is Maruhom the first enthroned Sultan of Binidayan,

Pundag was married to Gombai, daughter of Macalao of Maguindanao and Bae Dadiyoba of Biabi sister of Buroa and one of the nine royal Baes of west Sedepan a Unayan, Datu Macalao is a grandson of Datu Balbal Mudag of Balabagan from a Buayan princess, Pundag and Gombai bore Gamad and Abidar, Gamad later descendant is Palawan known as Olama of Basak Binidayan

Ampaso, marries four ladies from different Sultanates, and bore Asamat, Ulok, Oray, Sahidal, Anol, Ginto, Blak, Duma and potri Amba of Uyaan/Madamba, Datu Ulok had a daughter name Bongan who was married to Sultan sa Tampasok of Sabah Malaysia who is a son of Amana son of Sayawa and bore Alongan who was first crowned as Datu sa Binidayan, Alongan was married to Dayang aunt of Sultan of Uyaan and got MARUHOM a first Sultan of Binidayan,

HISTORY OF BINIDAYAN SULTANATE

With some minor differences or variations, the Binidayan history narrates how the sultanate system of Binidayan established. Binidayan before it becomes municipalities was called Bobonga Onayan, it was located at the center of Onayan Pangampong, principality of Lanao (state of Lanao), Imam Kadi of Binidayan established a sultanate system of Binidayan. Datu Alongan crowned with the specific title as Datu sa Binidayan and later his eldest son hold the title as sultan of Bobonga Onayan. According to traditional order made by imam Kadi and Datus, Binidayan was divided into five principalities (lima ka agama) every principalities hold the specified title (grar) provide by Datu’s and Imam Kadi, this arrangement traditional order (taritib) was agreed by the majority of Datus in Binidayan.

Time passed, Sultan of Bobonga Onayan was slain in the area of east Onayan by Datu Kapitan Laot and he hide at siyao a datu in Maguing. The two sons of Datu Alongan, Maruhom Pongkaiman and Amai Bayora organized their men with the cooperation of people in Sultanate of Uyaan. Their mother side, and belong to same family tree lineage, particularly Ampaso. The two Sultanate attacked Kapitan Laot in Maguing and captured him as a hostage and brought in Binidayan, Datu Kapitan Laot was difficult to kill, he had a magical necklace (anting anting, Kubla) to protect him in time of danger, but the sister of Maruhom was the one who killed him when he was in Binidayan.

In that cased, Datu’s and Bae’s of Binidayan made an agreement, since Maruhom and his Brother Amai bayora toke revenged and become prides of Binidayan, either one of them should be the right, legitimate and suitable to hold the title as sultan of all principalities of Binidayan, this arrangement (Taritib) was based on their lineage and performance as a successor. In a few months, Maruhom enthroned as first Sultan of Binidayan, while the Sultans of five Principalities remain as Councils of sultan (Odasa o Sulotan sa Binidayan) namely, Sultan a Gaus of Timbangan, Sultan a Diamla of Kiyalilidan, Sultan a Pitiilan of Onayan and Sultan Sarip of Lumbac a Binidayan under the Umbrella of Sultan of Binidayan. While Amai Bayora become Sultan a Pitiilan of Kiyalilidan. The Sultanate of Binidayan was belong to 28 Councils of state of Lanao (Dowapolo ago walo a mbabaya ko Takdir)

Maruhom reached an old aged and installed his eldest son Ginarapandi as 2nd Sultan of Binidayan. That time, Ginarapandi married to Bae Apipa, daughter of Datu Ibrahim Datumulok of Tugaya and got Mangotara, Pakalangot and Paramanis. Mangotara enthroned 3rd sultan of Binidayan and married to Dampologan of Wato and got late Sultan of Wato Dangcogan, Datumolok of Tugaya Shaiek Batawi, Usngan of Masiu Botawan H, Camid, Sultan Dimaporo and Mariga. Dimaporo enthroned as 4th Sultan of Binidayan and married to Borngao Potre Maamor of Binidayan and got Sultan of Masiu Mohammad Ali Dimaporo

After the reign of Dimaporo, Grandson of Maruhom Amai Koning Become 5th Sultan of Binidayan and Sultan Dimaluna enthroned 6th sultan of Binidayan, Dimaluna a cousin of Dimaporo, is a son of Pakalangot eldest son of Sultan Ginarapandi, After the reign of Dimaluna, Sultan Muliloda Datumulok Dimaporo enthroned 7th Sultan of Binidayan to the present, Sultan Muliloda Graduated mayor of Binidayan and chairman of 28 legislative council body to the so called taritib and “ijma” that are distributed by pangampong. Ancient name of Unayan Pangampong
Marogong is the ancient name of Unayan pangampong, the word Marogong derived from the root word “Rogong” which means sound of thunder, marogong is a plural of rogong, given by Dimaampao kalinan the founding ancestor of Unayan principality,

The history narrated that when Sharif awlis, a Muslim missionary famous in all of Sulu and Mindanao, visited Bembaran and taught the Islamic faith. The people there refused to accept it, though, so God became angry and destroyed the kingdom with a great fire, volcano eruption spewing rocks and lava or lahar. A man named Dimaampao Kalinan and his 4 brothers, who’s barely escaped and evacuated to Kiaranda a ragat a tiongkop a layagen (Preserved sea water) now Ranao, this man later married to Sittie Anak of Butig settled in the area and name the place Marogong. Thus the people of Unayan Pangampong (principality) claim descent from Dimaampao kalinan, the first founding of the ancestors of Marogong or Unayan.

Time passed, Datu Paskan, grandson of Dimaampao kalinan became the next ruler of Marogong, he changed the name into Unayan, this was after the coming of Islam in Mindanao on 15 century, the reason why he named the place Unayan, the word Unayan is a maranao term, in english “FOUNDATION”, he believed, the first place landed by the Shariefs who brought Islam in mainland Mindanao was in Malabang which is part of Unayan area, that’s why he call it Unayan, first foundation of Islamic faith in mainland Mindanao was in the place, and any Maranao/Iranon don’t have blood related in the area is not a royal blood in Maguindanao and Ranao. That was according to him.

Marogong municipality is named Marogong by a visionary, optimistic and dedicated leader, Sultan Abdulmadid Maruhom, to let Marogong exist and not to forget by the next generation, unlike the Maganding of Masiu, Dagodob of Bayabao seldom to be heard, he had of view that Marogong will be the next Capital of Unayan Pangampong.

ROYAL HOUSES OF SEDEPAN (WEST) A UNAYAN


Unayan Pangampong is one of the four genealogical confederations of Ranao sultanates, its territory divide into two "soko" districts, namely; East "Sebangan a Unayan" and West "Sedepan a Unayan" each districts sub divided into traditional "inged" township of settlement with rulers Sultans under the "taritib" royal order of Unayan.

Sedepan a Unayan, its territory were divided into three districts "soko", Tubok a Malabang, Noron Kapatagan and Central Unayan. too, dividing sedepan a Unayan to three districts is a strategic scheme, to divide power and rule among the descendants of Datu Ameladin a Makapundag sa Unayan, propagator of sedepan a Unayan, chieftain of the whole Unayan, who was married to Potre Daragat daughter of Sharif Kabunsoan from Angintabo an Iranon princess of Malabang,

Central Unayan and Noron Kapatagan are under one "taritib" the royal order of Sedepan a Unayan, with two royal houses, Pagayawan and Bayang, four minor royal thrones in Kapatagan (Buadi Garang ko Noron), and four sets from the 28 guardians of "taritib" system of Ranao, namely; Binidayan, Pualas, Boribid and Padas,

The district of Malabang is outside the "taritib" of Ranao, but, parcel belong to the Unayan territory, they had there own royal order "taritib", tubok is the capital, with a royal houses, Balabagan, Malabang and Pikong, its territory, includes the Municipality of Kalanogas, North part of Marogong, Kapatagan. in the province of Maguindanao, includes, Parang, Boldon, Matanog, and Barira. these traditional "inged" all claimed decent from ancestor "Datu Matanog" who was married to a Matampay princess and Butig princess, he was the grand father of Ameladen a Makapundag of Unayan,

Dr Majul, classified the people of Unayan are Iranons, people living in Butig down to Malabang area are Iranuns. it was agreed by majority of Panditas in Unayan, "IRANON PIPHARASAN A RANAO PIPANDARAAN" most "Onor" mentioned that words, while Najeeb Saleeby, stated on his book that people living from pullok to the western in Tukuran down to Iligan city and the people around lake Lanao are Iranons. The term Maranao came after the creation of the 15 royal houses of Ranao, Spanish officials address the dwelling people of the lake Lanao as Maranao, to divide the solidarity of Iranons (Iranaon) in Mindanao,

Boroa and Duni begot, "Mbarong and Amidag who was married to a sulu royal princess and settled in Sulu. while "Mbarong was married to Potre Nayo, daughter of Anta sa Tubok and bore Arobero of the royal house of Pagayawan, Diwan of the royal house of Bayang and Potre Noron of the four royal minor thrones of Kapatagan (6 Municipalities in Lanao del Norte a kawali o Garang)

SEDEPAN A UNAYAN ROYAL GENEALOGY (SALSILA)

Matanog first married to Lawano, sister of Dozonan of Butig, begot Dimalampos and Dimalawang. Matanog second married to Bae sa Matampay begot, Amilonas of Bugasan, Amidompao of Parang Bonged, Ambarandia of Bengabeng, Ampawa of Lonsait and Meragat of Bongabong.

Datu Dimalawang son of Matanog, was married to a Malabang princess, begot Ameladin a Makapundag sa Unayan, first married to Potre Daragat, daughter of Sharif Kabunsoan from Angintabo, an Iranun Princess of Malabang, bore only Maradia Dikabolodan who was married to Dinambayanun, daughter of Datu Balbal Mudag of Magulaling Balabagan from the daughter of Raja Sirongan of Buayan. Maradia and Dinam, begot, Datu Boroa of sedepan a Unayan and the nine royal princesses of west Unayan, namely; Oyoda of Madamba, Imoda of Ganassi, Ayor of Linindingan, Ongkini of Marogong/Tubaran, Dadioba of Biabi, Togon of Kadingilan, Angkolan of Bita, Andonga of Macadar and Sanaolan of Dagook Lumbatan,
